What is it that you do artistically?

I'm a musician/entertainer

Why do you do what you do?

It's fulfilling. Love collaborating with other musicians and creatives. Good for mental health. Great way to connect with community and it helps feed me.

When did you start in your industry?

2006

How would you describe your style?

Folk, jazzed up blues, bit of country

Has your style changed over time?

I've always dabbled with various styles, depending on the occasion

What does inspiration mean to you and who inspires you?

Inspiration is a great motivator, like an engine spark. It keeps my creative juices flowing. Many artists inspire me. Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Sarah Vaughan, Stevie Nicks, Lana Del Ray, Mazzy Star. The music in David Lynch films inspire me, especially Twin Peaks. What memorable responses have you had to your work? When people are moved by my music in an emotional way, I know I've tapped into a collective conscience where we are united. Some people have said my music validates something they feel strongly about.

Winning two categories one year in the WAM Song of the Year meant a lot to me. What have you been working on recently?

I just wrote a song about an elderly couple trapped on a cruise ship. I am in the process of trying to record it with harmonies using an app on my phone because I can't get into the studio at the moment with my producer due to social distancing. I have also been collaborating with my Dad long distance.

What is your dream project?

Releasing an album of songs about Celtic Goddesses which I have the demos for - written with poet Giles Watson. It would be great to have them fully produced.

How would you describe the Arts & Culture scene in Albany?

Albany is a melting pot of creativity. I imagine it thriving with more support on the other side of the global pandemic. I imagine people will be yearning to connect and share ideas more than ever.
