Stay COVID-safe

With Perth, Peel and the South West region going into lockdown from 6pm yesterday evening, it is an important reminder to stay vigilant and protect yourself, your family and our community against COVID-19.

While there are still lots of unknowns when it comes to COVID-19, there is one thing we know for sure, we all have a part to play in protecting our communities.

As COVID-19 is still new, there is no existing immunity in our community. This means the virus could spread widely and quickly through contact with droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze that land on surfaces.

There are many things you can do to keep yourself COVID-safe:

  • If you’re sick, stay home, and don’t have visitors.

  • Keep at least 1.5 metres away from others, and avoid unnecessary physical contact (i.e. handshakes, hugs and kisses).

  • Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitiser.

  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, using a flexed elbow or a tissue. If you use a tissue, put it in the bin straight away.

  • Clean surfaces and objects such as doorknobs, benches, table tops, keyboards and phones often.

  • Use tap and pay instead of cash, where possible.

  • Use the free, secure, and hygienic SafeWA app to register your attendance at venues and businesses around town.

  • Keep up-to-date with current travel restrictions and requirements here.

  • Get tested if you've got symptoms – even if they are mild. Find your nearest testing locations here.
